Child unharmed after a collision in an Axkid Movekid

Axkid News True Stories

This is the story of when Anna and her family; husband and two children, experienced a car crash on their way home to Burgas travelling from Sofia. A trip they had made many times previously. They were on the highway, when the accident occurred, and their car crashed through the barrier and down the ravine. Both children were left unharmed, only two days after installing the Movekid for their smallest child.

The Accident

It was a typical journey home for Anna and her family. They were travelling from Sofia to Burgas, with Anna’s husband behind the wheel. Anna herself was sitting in the back seat between their two children, a 4-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son. Halfway home, their car suddenly veered sharply to the right, crashing through the barrier. Anna recalls the terrifying moments that followed as the car went off the road and into a ravine, with her children screaming and crying beside her.

The vehicle eventually landed bottom side down, dangerously tilted towards the right side where her son’s car seat was located. Her husband was unconscious and Anna, was unable to move due to her injuries.

Rear-facing saved their children

Despite the severity of the crash, both children left the crash without any visible injuries. Anna shared that just two days before the accident, they had replaced their 1-year-old son’s baby car seat with a Movekid, a rear-facing car seat from Axkid. Remarkably, it stayed intact and protected him from harm and according to the road assistance this decision was what left their son unharmed after the crash, and the change to a Movekid saved their sons life.

“Because a qualitative car seat can save a life.”

The outcome for the others

While Anna’s children were unharmed, the same could not be said for her and her husband. Her husband regained consciousness after a few minutes and was later found to have sustained three broken ribs. Anna herself suffered severe injuries, including a broken right leg in two places and a fractured left shoulder blade.

Closing words

Anna’s story is an important reminder of how quickly a routine drive can turn into a life-threatening situation.

“I would give parents the advice to always put their children in car seats with fasten belts, to choose wisely and responsibly car seats that meet the highest standards and take the Swedish Plus test. The car seat should be chosen also according to the child’s age (rear-facing seat maximum time) not the colour and decorations of the fabric.”

“I chose to share our story hoping that parents reading it will think about it, will realise how important car seats are and following some simple rules can really save lives. I hope that reading a true story can make people more thoughtful and responsible.”

Thank you, Anna, for sharing your story. We are happy to hear that everyone is doing well under the circumstances.
